A nice couple of large provincial Swatow plates, Ming dynasty.
Sturdily potted out of rose-hued clay, with a thick blueish white glaze and cobalt blue underglaze decoration, partly hand printed (the planters motive) and partly painted by hand (the plants, a typical combination of techniques for provincial plates like these). A large circular area on the plate upper side is left unglazed for stacking during firing.
In the glazed centre a cobalt good luck ideogram.
Glazed bottom with two blue rings and another ring near the lower edge.
Very good condition, some firing faults.
