Prussian officer’s rapier sword, 1889 model:
Total length: 86 cm, blade 72 cm
Length scabbard: 90 cm
Late 19th - early 20th century period
Bronze mount with a short-tailed cap, moulded pommel.
The guard has a folding cross-guard and split branch, and is decorated with the Prussian eagle carrying equipment and a number.
Leather buckle for the finger grip is fully present.
Straight blade with nice nickel plating and two parallel fullers, beautiful markings.
No dents, no play.
Please note: the sheath is in fair condition (damaged near the top) but not of the same model (probably a sheath for the 1889 sabre).
The filigree has been repaired in a few places.
