Original woodblock print - Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891) – Fukurokuju and Daikoku playing - Japan - ca. 1880s

Fukurokuju and Daikoku, two of the seven Gods of Good Luck, are often depicted with Daikoku shaving the enormously elongated head of Fukurokuju from a ladder. Here, it appears that this work has just been finished, as the ladder is standing beside them and the two gods are playing relaxedly.

Signed “Zeshin”.

Size is ca. 23.9 x 25.5 cm (Shikishiban).

Very good impression and colours. Slight toning. Light creases. Some soils and brownish spots. Unbacked.

Will be shipped by registered and insured mail.
