Original woodblock print, Published by Unsodo - Okada Koichi (1907-?) - 'Kawaguchi-ko no Fuji' 河口湖の富士 (Mt Fuji from Lake Kawaguchi) - Japan - Heisei period (1989-2019)
Okada Koichi was a contemporary of Hasui, and is best known for his striking images of Mount Fuji from circa the 1950s, named "Twelve Views of Japan". Although the title suggests the existence of 12 prints, only 5 are known to exist. He published at Unsodo in Kyoto. These beautiful shin-hanga designs show the sacred mountain in the different seasons.
Lovely autumn image of Mount Fuji, as seen from Ashinoko (Lake Ashi) at Hakono. The reflection of the snow-covered mountain top glistens on the calm water. The water is framed by reed at the bottom left and colourful autumn leaves at the top right.
