Description
Richard Aurili (1834-1914) - Christ, Sculpture, 54 cm - Clay, Copper - ca. 1900
Belgium

A bust of Christ by Richard Aurili (1834-1914). He was an Italian sculptor who worked in Belgium until 1890. He then moved to Paris, where his works were exhibited at the Salon Des Artistes Francais.

Realistic and beautifully sculpted expression. The sculpture has a core of plaster on which a layer of red copper (galvanoplastic) is applied. Wonderful brown patina.

In good condition but in some points the copper shows some green oxidation and material decay. Please take a good look at the photos.
Signed R. Aurili.
