Bruce Monk (b.1953) - Rosalind

Bruce Monk (b.1953) - Rosalind
Platinotype - Signed - 1992

Exquisite hand printed platinum/palladium photograph by Bruce Monk (b. 1953. Vancouver, Canada). Direct contact print from a 4x5 Tri-X negative on hand coated Cranes platinotype paper. Titled, dated and signed verso. Monk’s Platinum prints can be found in the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography and collections globally. An outstanding print, reminiscent of works by Imogen Cunningham, Ruth Bernhard and Edward Weston.

Platinum is, of all forms of photography, the most luminous, archival and rare. Although difficult, time consuming and costly to create, platinum prints are the sine-qua-non of photographic art. Once experienced, it is usually a visual revelation! And it is the visual value, the tremendous tonal range, that makes platinum prints so extraordinary. This is one of only a handful of prints made and by the very nature of the process, each platinum print is unique. Retail for this print would be over €500.

Purchased directly from the artist in 2004.

Will be sent by FedEx Priority.
