Gurage - Ethiopia - Meat-Cutting Platter
Beautiful ancient meat-cutting platter with the features of stylised animals, from the Gurage culture.
The spikes are supposed to represent cows’ udders with the legs on each extremity.
There are traces of cutting on the top part, otherwise, the piece is in very good condition.
The part in relief representing the head is pierced with a hole through which passes a cord.
Provenance: Dogon Gallery, Berlin.
