Joel Meyerowitz, born 6 March 1938 in New York City, is a co-founder of Street Photography and New Color Photography. Similar to William Eggleston or Stephen Shore, Meyerowitz is a pioneer of artistic colour photography.

He has received numerous awards for his work, most recently the Leica Hall of Fame Award (2017) for his life's work. His photographs have been presented in solo and group exhibitions by numerous museums and institutions around the world. With his series of works Aftermath (2011), he documented the destruction and reconstruction of the World Trade Center at Ground Zero in New York after September 11, 2001. Joel Meyerowitz lives and works in Buonconvento (Italy) and in New York City.
