Richly decorated, as a symbol of the ambitions of the King of Sweden.
The Wasa was one of the most heavily armed ships in the world.
However, the vessel was dangerously unstable and heavy.
Despite this lack of stability, the vessel sank after travelling 1,300 m on its inaugural voyage on 10 August 1628.
