Authentic Dyonyeni female figure from the BAMANA tribe, Mali.
The Dyonyeni are associated with Southern Dyo and Kwore society.
These female images usually appear with large conical breasts and measure between 40 and 85 cm in height. They were used during ritual dances to celebrate the end of the initiation ceremonies.
Figures represented the Bamana idea of beauty.
Considered the age, overall good condition with clear traces of wear and tear (tribal use). Good patina with some aging signs.
Provenance: former private collection from Belgium.
