African initiation wooden mask form the NGBAKA / NGBANDI people of DR Congo. They are oval and often have a concave face with an elongated triangular nose. The artistic style of their statues and masks, which are related to the Ngbaka, is recognizable through their elongated features, a line of vertical scarification on the forehead and a pointed chin.
Provenance: former private collection from Belgium.
