The roasting spit was once used to grill the meat at the open fireplace.
The timepiece is rotated by means of a crank, causing the mechanism to rotate.
The roasting spit has two positions for the height of the spit.
The spit and stand are not present. The original spit is usually also rusted. A modern spit from the oven is easy to make by grinding or filing to make it fit
