TCHUBI: Khal Mohammadi and Afghan Aqcha are two of the most popular types of Afghan rugs. Khal Mohammadis are hand-knotted rugs made by the Turkmen people of Northern Afghanistan. Their main colours are various shades of dark red. The motifs are göl (resembling an elephant's foot) and the octagon (eight-sided figure) often accompanied by stylised flowers in shades of dark blue, ochre and beige. Aqche Afghan carpets are hand-knotted by Turkmen people in central and northern Afghanistan.
