François Geoffroi Roux, born on 23rd October 1811 in Marseille and died on 30th September 1882 in the same city, is a seascape painter
Son of the painter and hydrographer Ange-Joseph Antoine Roux (1765-1835), he mainly painted representations of ships (including the aviso Le Renard). He was appointed official painter of the Navy on 19th October 1875. He was the last of the "portraits of ships" painters of the Roux family.
