Arne Jacobsen’s Cylinda-line series for Stelton from 1967 was an immediate success, winning Danish and international design awards. His innovative use of lightly brushed, seamless stainless steel in cylindrical forms was sensational and has remained popular ever since. Cylinda-line items are featured in many international design museums, including the permanent collections at MOMA, NY and the V&A, London. A true Danish design classic and perfect example of Scandinavian minimalism.
These elegant items are fine examples of the different sized ashtrays from the series (6.5cm x 7.5cm; 8cm x 10cm). The semi-spherical, hinged top rotates to drop ash into the container. The lid is easily removed for cleaning. Marked with the Stelton logo underneath, it is in excellent clean vintage (near mint) condition, with only very minor superficial patina (photos).
A fine decorative items from the golden-age of Danish design - a great addition to any modernist collection, ideal for both smokers and non-smokers!
