Early Spanish Model 1942 "Modelo Z" Steel Helmet
The Spanish adopted a German styled helmet, called the Modelo Z in 1942. This Spanish Civil war period helmet was similiar in style to German helmets of that period but the metal was less thick with an unrolled edge. These helmets have 7 rivets holding the liner in place which consist of leather with a leather chin strap typical of early/ Civil War issue as is the early brown green paint. This helmet was probably used by the Republician army as Nationalist helmet had a metal bracket attached to the front for the brass Spanish Eagle badge "Emblem of the Army"
Some dents and chipping to original brown green paint present due to age, and leather liner fragile, however still a nice example and great addition to any collection for whose interested in the Spanish Civil War.
