Important beautiful black lacquered and partly gilded oyoroi suit-of-armour. Exceptionally lacquered and allover decorated with goldleaf floral designs and a family crest. Also the back of the shikoro and the rim of the helmet and the backside of the cuirass have floral scrolls maquillé in gold lacquer. With black cords and an orange hem (kuro’urushinuri odoshi wadaku kuroi domaru).
Large black lacquered eight plate hoshikabuto-helmet, its fukikaeshi show a crest consisting of three oak-leaves inside a circle (maru ni mitsukashiwa mon); in front of the helmet connected kuwagata-antlers. The helmet has four neck-guards (shikoro).
A black lacquered facial mask of an old man with open mouth, a separate noose-piece and a grey moustache (resseibo). From the facial mask hangs a four piece gorget (nodowa) also decorated with floral scrolls. Six-piece sode with orange cords protect the shoulders and fukubekote with gilded gourd-pieces and Japanese mail over brocade the arms. In front of the two piece cuirass hang above two “apricot leaves” (gyoyo). The two piece bucket-shaped cuirass has above laced itazane-plates and in front the three oak leaves crest and two orange tassels. The cuirass is all over decorated with peony scrolls in gold makie-lacquer. From the cuirass hangs a seven-part five-piece gilded kusazuri-skirt with black cords. A brocade waist band. The haidate that protect the upper legs have gilded itazane strips laced with black cords. Gilded tube-shaped suneate with large tateage (the protruding upper part of the suneate) protect the lower legs (dosuneate).
In a black lacquered box decorated with the above mentioned three oak leaves crest.

In nice original untouched and completely matching condition with some minor signs of wear and age.

Including stand.
