Oldřich Tichý was born in 1959 in the city of Zlín in the Czech Republic. After a special secondary school for applied art, he worked as an art therapist for two years at an early age in a psychiatric hospital in Kromeríz.
In 1980 he went on to study at the Academy of Fine Training in Prague.
In 1986-87 there is an obvious shift. Imaginary still lifes are created that are adjacent to the abstract. Despite the use of many different shapes and a dynamic brush stroke, a trend towards clarification emerges.
Oldřich Tichý is one of the most important artists in the Czech Republic today. His work has been included in numerous museum collections, including the National Museum in Prague.
