‘Jeune femme devant un bénitier’
Height: 35 cm; length: 27.5 cm

Provenance : Private collection in Anjou
This portrait painter known for his typical representations of the end of the Empire and the Restoration, gives us here an image that must most certainly not be unimportant.
We can see a contemporary woman, the Duchess of Berry, in a church and gently dipping her fingers in holy water. Why not see in this image an important figure? This type of scene is not represented for a simple portrait, we must probably look further and think of an event of the Restoration.
