Willem Steelink, painter and graphic artist, born on 16 July 1856 in Amsterdam, died on 27 November 1928 in Voorburg. Willem lived and worked in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Voorburg.
William started as his father's apprentice. In the beginning of his career, he mostly made portraits and historical scenes like he had learned from his father. Later he went to Laren and was influenced by the Larensche School, among others Anton Mauve. From then on he mainly painted landscapes and developed his own style. In addition to paintings, Willem also made graphic works and etchings. Among others his work can be seen in the Gemeentemuseum The Hague.
