Italy - Rijeka company - letter and insignia - 1920

Description
Italy - Rijeka company - letter and insignia - 1920
Original - Good condition

Interesting and unique direct testimony of Gabriele D’Annunzio’s Fiume Endeavour. It is a letter addressed to the Command of the 18th Infantry Regiment with which a Fiume soldier, formerly in the regiment, informed his old commander that he had defected to join the forces of the Italian Fiume, attaching his insignia and tabs as a symbol of restitution. Note the Fiume cancellation on the stamp and the evocative motto "Eja, Eja, Eja, Alalà" at the end of the letter. The letter dates back to March 5, 1920. Lot in good condition, the regimental trophy and the insignia clearly show signs of being attached to the letter in the back.
