Mask - Wood - Chewa - Malawi
Mid 20th century - Excellent condition, barely used with minimal signs of wear

The Chewa live in Malawi and are influenced by the Makonde. This mask is painted in a striking way. The whole is in good condition but has clear traces of ritual use.

Brought back in the 1990s, estimated age is 50 years.
Since circa 25 years, the traditions have been lost.
Length: 30 cm
