Marcos de Lisboa - Parte segunda de las chronicas de los frayles - 1566

Description
Marcos de Lisboa - Parte segunda de las chronicas de los frayles - 1566
History - Quantity: 1 - Book

Exceptionally rare work by the Portuguese Marcos de Lisboa in a first Spanish translation by Felipe de Susa, about the history of the Franciscans from the 16th century up to 1566. Very important for both European and American history. The complete title is: Las chronicas de los frayles minores y de las otras ordines. The royal approbation is dated 28 May 1566. This is volume 2 of 664 pages with index, the 1st volume is available through ZVAB. Marcos de Lisboa was Bishop of Porto and lived from 1511 to 1599.
The interior of the book is in very good condition. The title page and the following 3 pages have a new right margin. The first ten pages have a decreasing moisture stain at the bottom right. The last page of the index in the back is half missing. The parchment binding is original, but it is a bit soiled and corrugated. This is not unusual for a book of more than 450 years old. The text is complete and intact.
In the 18th century the work belonged to the Franciscans in Villa de Mondragon. Not found on the internet at ADDall or ZVAB.
