Description
Fred Michiels - A Destroyed Painting is one that carries the marks of the action performed upon it
Acrylic on paper - Artist's stamp, Hand signed, Certificate of authenticity - 2007

The painting was made in 2007 on blue Reeves 220 grams and was part of the exhibition "To encounter Total Bafflement" at gallery Ottila Pribilla in Antwerp in the same year.
In 2012, the work was part of the performance "For a retro-future" at Eva Steynen in Antwerp. To music by Steve Reich, among others, a series of 13 "hero-paintings" were edited with sticky tape, posca and a round-hole-making-chisel.
This is the fifth work from that series.
Fred Michiels has been represented by the Antwerp gallery Eva Steynen since 2011, and since 2016 by The Office of Useless Art (Charleroi) – the latter also as a publisher of his poems and pamphlets under pseudonym Wichard Ragner and Ottist(F)reddy. The audio cassettes are issued by the Antwerp label Da Dist Tapes.
