Fred Michiels - My Superhero Complex

Fred Michiels - My Superhero Complex
Plastic - Artist's stamp, Hand signed, Certificate of authenticity - 2004

‘My Superhero Complex’, from the collection of the late Théo Scheelen. The artist bought it back from the heirs through the "resale right".
It is a drawing in posca on translucent plastic, pleated and pinned to an off-white vintage frame.
The work was presented in gallery Nine point Nine in Roeselare (B) and in the cultural centre Zwaneberg in Heist-op-den-berg (B) in 2006.
The cultural centre also made a booklet about the "Superhero" series at the time. The text in the booklet is by Léon Lemahieu. The matching box was made by people with disabilities.

Fred Michiels has been represented by the Antwerp gallery Eva Steynen since 2011, and since 2016 by The Office of Useless Art (Charleroi) – the latter also as a publisher of his poems and pamphlets under pseudonym Wichard Ragner and Ottist(F)reddy. The audio cassettes are issued by the Antwerp label Da Dist Tapes.
