A Grand Tour Italian coral branch worn as an amulet or talisman that is believed to offer protection against the evil eye since red coral is believed to be blood of Medusa. In the Christian world red coral symbolizes Christ's blood and sacrifice. This Italian coral branch pendant hangs at the center of an 18K gold necklace which is 46 cm long, Hanging from the center of the chain is a yellow gold hoop (stamped "18K"), which holds the pendant from oxblood coral of a smooth, rich magnificent color that is free of dyes or enhancements. Resting at the top of the pendant is a simple 18K yellow gold cap, which hangs from a ring bail stamped “18K” on the side. The gorgeous pendant can be detached if desired, and would look equally striking whether worn alone or grouped with additional charms. Measurements: the necklace measures 46 cm in total length. The pendant hangs approximately 7,5 cm long (including the bail at the top). The pendant itself measures 6,8 cm long. Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent.
