Charles V (1337-1380) was the eldest son of Jean II and Judith of Luxembourg.
Regent during the imprisonment of his father in England (1356-1360 and 1363-1364), he became king after his death in 1364. That put an end to the Brittany succession war after the death of Charles de Blois. Charles made peace with Jean IB, on 12 April 1365. In 1369, the war taken against the British after the Guyenne seizure.
