A finely cast Luristan spearhead which features open-work decoration. Its triangular tip is integrally cast with a cylindrical shaft. The blade extends into two curved bands then connects with the sides of the central shaft. Repair to the blade.
Luristan bronze comes from the province of Lorestan, a region situated in the area of modern South-Western Iran. Axe heads, such as this nice example, would have been used in everyday life but also buried together with the deceased.
