A finely carved schist weight which takes the form of an animate frog with rear legs splayed.
Sets of standard balance weights were used to weigh goods in the Babylonian world precisely. Weights produced during the Babylonian period were normally made of bronze and stone.
Measurement: 2.2cm length; 1.5cm width
Provenance: Property of a North London gentleman; previously in the collection of Mr S.M., acquired in the 1970s-1990s. Fine condition.
