Leonardo da Vinci advised artists to keep their eyes fixed on the old walls for a long time to find familiar shapes. The multitude of shapes that were then revealed excited the mind, stimulated the imagination and gave poetic support. If this advice of the master has long since become a fruitful method of creation, it is also for the one who looks and accepts to be receptive, one of the most eloquent means of being himself a poet.
The ravages of time on the walls and in front of which we have all stopped once with pleasure and delight, are the starting point of Delphine Beguinot-Dollet's work. In all kinds of formats that we have to face, like mirrors, she redoes as intuitively as possible through materials, textures and colours, this stained, mouldy, dilapidated wall that, yet, has held her eye as surely as in front of a remarkable landscape.
With the adherence of the viewer, characters, landscapes arise, stories take place, secrets are revealed. To the one who agrees to venture into the space-time of the canvas, this whole universe, this whole microcosm becomes his. Like soul mirrors, opening up to the infinite territories that populate and inhabit each of us, in her very personal way Delphine Beguinot-Dollet's paintings function as developers, like dreams do. Caught in contemplation, the viewer is immersed in a process of interpretation, which is carried out by association with the evoked, suggested images. The canvases then act as screens and they end in the mind of the viewer.
The inexhaustible poetic reserve that is given to the one who knows how to see opens up for Delphine Beguinot-Dollet a world of infinite exploration, as for those children who know unknowingly, to be amazed at a wasteland where everything remains to be invented and lived.
