Kokeshi (3)
Japan - 1960 - 1985 - Hout

We offer three nice vintage traditional kokeshi. The left kokeshi is from the Togatta strain. The middle one is a Yajirou and the right one is from the Yamagata strain. All three kokeshi are signed by the artisan.

Kokeshi are wooden handmade artisanal dolls from Japan. The most prevalent theory is that they appeared during the Tempo period (1830 - 1843) in the mountainous Tohoku region. Initially, they were intended as toys for the children. Later they became popular souvenirs and real decorative items, for some even collector items.

The heights of the kokeshi in this lot are (from left to right): 31 cm, 24 cm and 30 cm.

More information about traditional kokeshi can be provided after purchase.

Fakapapa is a company specialized in trading kokeshi and we are based in the European Union. So, NO HIDDEN HIGH IMPORT TAXES WITHIN THE E.U.
