A little Fon figure with a textile around the waist
Provenance: Jan van Camp , Belgium.

H= 27 cm. Wood, textile, remains of offerings.

Fon people, also called Dahomey, are living in the south of Benin (called Dahomey until 1975) and adjacent parts of Togo.
Their language, also called Fon, is closely related to Ewe.

They kept those figures in a shrine palace to protect the village or in the house for individual use to heal and protect.
