Struck during the Siege of Antwerp in 1814. Antwerp, which belonged to the French at the time, was being sieged by allied forces consisting of the British, Prussians, Russians and Swedish. The French general Lazare Carnot decided to mint emergency coins of 5 and 10 Centimes. About 28,500 pieces of these 10-Centime coins were created.
