7 silver buttons, made of a sterling, silver coin minted in Leuven between 1329 and 1337 under Jan III, Duke of Brabant, 1312 - 1355.
The coins were checked between 1906 and 1953 by the assay office, assayed as 'old domestic work' and each bearing the corresponding stamp.
It can be assumed that the sterling non longer circulated as currency in the 17th century and after. The buttons are likely to have been manufactured in the 17th or 18th century and are intended for menswear.
