Hugo Claus: Echolalia (XV/XVI)
One of the ten copies (VI to XVI) with in addition to the eight etchings in their final state also a removable suite of the same eight etchings on Hahnemühle paper! This is number ‘XV’.
So: Seven poems and 2x eight signed etchings by Hugo Claus. De etchings are printed in two tones, all on handmade paper (Hahnemühle Bütten paper 230 grams).
The total circulation of Echolalia consisted of 66 copies, in three versions. (see colophon)
All etchings and also the colophon page were signed by the artist in pencil. The removable etchings were signed and numbered.
Echolalia is a condition in which the patient will continuously repeat the last words of the sentence that was spoken to him. The condition is typical for patients with Alzheimer's disease. This was Claus' last bibliophile edition.
Apparently the cut etchings are sold by De Slegte at 175 €/piece.
