Paisley shawls were a fashionable item of women's clothing in the 19th century made of intricately woven and delicate wool. Although known as the Paisley pattern the teardrop motif originated from Persia and India, becoming popular in Europe.

This Paisley shawl displays intense paisley pattern within Floral paisley designed field predominately Lavender and Pink tones on a beige ground. Central intense floral bothe pattern followed by fringe element design on both sides. Central cartouche pattern.


The shawl has an Light pastel colour palette that remains vivid despite age and usage.
