Italy

Closable travel icon in two sections, 925 silver, Italy
Hallmark datable starting from 1968

Precious travel icon in 925 silver and vermeil gold composed of two aedicules carved in high relief with two sacred representations taken from the Gospel:

One shows the Virgin and Child Jesus surrounded by two archangels and cherubs, the other depicts the scene of Calvary, with Jesus crucified on the Cross and at his feet his Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene, surmounted by a winged putto.
On both sides two amorphous figures representing the defeat of evil and the victory of good.

The manufacture is very valuable, on a solid silver plate, not laminated. The gold-coating is partially missing, which is normal considering the item’s age.

Minor marks in the upper corner.

Dimensions: height 14.3 cm, single panel width 10 cm, total width when open 21 cm, thickness 2 cm.

International shipping via express courier.
