Gerda Huijssen (1978, the Netherlands) with great attention and craftsmanship artisanally creates service parts and art objects made of clay from her own ceramics studio in Breda. In every piece you can see the hand of its maker. The traces from working on the potter's wheel, the grooves in the clay from turning and the nonchalantly applied clay slips and glazes give this artwork lots of character. The finish and use of material ensures that it keeps as close to its essence as possible.
Gerda completed the Dutch Ceramics course in Gouda in 2013, after which she specialised further in the art of turning and glazing. She has decided to focus on the playful turning of unique objects and utensils.
