Early medieval Silver Dark Ages - Bird heads brooch fibula - (1)
5th - 6th century AD

Ostrogothic openwork solid silver plate brooch with stylised bird heads.
The circular brooch has a central green glass cabochon, surrounded by eight radiating arms, each forming a stylised bird's head in profile, the eyes inlayed with green glass.

Diameter: 31,4 mm
Weight: 10,72 g

Condition: good solid condition. pinlug and catchplate are present, pin is missing. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images for own impression.

Purchased by the current owner from a Dutch antiques fair, 2019.
