Pieter Defesche (1921-1998) - Weerwolf bij volle maan

Description
Pieter Defesche (1921-1998) - Weerwolf bij volle maan
Silkscreen/Serigraph - Signed - 64/80 - 1991

Pieter Defesche (Maastricht, 1921 – 1998) belongs together with colleagues such as Ger Lataster, Jef Diederen and Lei Molin to the 'Amsterdam Limburgers', an umbrella name for provincial artists who sought their artistic refuge in the capital after WWII. Typical of Defesche is on the one hand the determination and on the other hand the struggle with matter. In his work he navigated between figuration and abstraction. With the landscape as a starting point, he painted a mythical reality. For his work, Defesche received the Prix de Rome in 1949 and the Prix Europe de La Peinture in 1964.

This work of art comes from the company collection of EY.
