Painted, Mater Dolorosa - oil on foil and on wood - Second half 18th century

Description
Painted, Mater Dolorosa - oil on foil and on wood - Second half 18th century
Germany

Suggestive painting, created with great mastery, showing an intense expression on the face of the Virgin, full of melancholy and painted with a sword piercing her heart (as tradition dictates). Craquelure consistent with the attribution date. Wood's lamp does not show any major retouching. There are some gaps in the pictorial layer (as per pictures), but they don’t diminish the charm of the work. We recommend restorative conservation work. Beautiful complimentary not contemporary frame.
Painting dimensions: 33.5 x 26 cm.

The work comes from a private collection and is accompanied by a certification according to the art. 64, Legislative Decree 22 January 2004, no 42, of the Law on Cultural Heritage and Landscape (Italy)

Careful proper packaging and insured shipping via courier.
