Chest pistol second type: no belt hook, three-sided bolt, enlarged trigger guard.
Rod is bulb type and pierced (not the case for the first type).
A limited number of copies manufactured from 1783 to 1792 (the first type from 1778 to 1783).
This model was adopted by the United States, manufactured under the name of North & Cheney 1799 (used during the war of independence).
Metal parts: no oxidation, very good condition.
Very nice marking on bolt: year ‘85’ and some hallmark punches:
Lock: marked ‘Saint Etienne’ with a letter ‘J’ topped with a crown.
Mechanism in very good condition, complete and functional, with no play.
Butt in walnut wood, in good (healthy) condition.
Please note: the trigger guard attachment has been re-soldered, some screws seem recent, the battery is recent.
