A Sabaean South Arabian Bull Protome ( rare )

A carved limestone Sabaean bull protome with a large almond- shaped eyes outlined with carved lines, head with linear rendition of the snout and the mouth, vestigial ears behind the horns, with a square hole connecting with a channel carved along the neck.

The head protome served as the spout on a now lost basin.
Condition: Fine , horns absent

Provenance: UK Colection purchased in 2017 from TL Antiquities sale, prior Swiss collection acquired from Hirsch auction in 2011, prior part of a French collection since the 1960's
