Statue NKISI SONGYE
The Songye are famous far beyond their borders for the strength and power of their fetishes.
These can be of various sizes depending on their private or collective use.
The present specimen is of traditional structure, with various loads on the chest and on the head (horn).
Moreover, its size is furnished with 2 shells, used for therapeutic purposes, and a piece of bone, witness of the sacrifices made in favour of the spirits.
Its eyes are made of cowries, to reinforce the power of gaze.
Beautiful typical piece, with a natural patina.
