Antique Russian icon ‘St Michael and St Olga the Martyr’ from the second half of the 19th century. Hand-painted with egg tempera colour on a wooden panel with chalk background. Typical method of icon production in 18th and 19th century in Russia. Relatively detailed painting. Perfectly matched colour contrasts and warm colours. The painting has craquelure. Partial restorations are present. Quite heavily restored or painted over in some places. The icon is in good condition with typical age-related signs of wear and tear in the form of scratches, flaking, cracks, especially in the lower right corner. Parts of the icon were glued together there (see photos). Along the right edge (2 cm from the edge), there is a vertical crack. The wooden board was probably extended by 2 cm (see photos). However, this is hardly noticeable. The icon is slightly curved. The transverse wooden lath on the back is missing. All saints are labelled. The inscriptions are clearly legible.
All details are clearly visible in the photos. The photos are part of the description.
