Sold with a custom-made stand.

Magnificent Kuba mask.

The mask is composed of a headdress covered with beads, the whole is covered with a large conical projection, also framed by a row of beads.

The “Ngady Mwaash” mask would date back to the time of Queen Ngokady who lived during the first dynasty.

Like other Kuba masks of the south, the decoration of surface is a riot of painted geometric motifs, very contrasted, including triangles and parallel lines crossing the cheeks of the mask, described as “tears” and refer to the context of funerary masked dances, for deceased members of the society of initiation rites.
