Charming Russian pilgrims icon; a small traveling altar with depicting the vision of Sergius of Radonez, the most famous and most venerated monk of the Russian orthodox Church. Sergius is depicted her whilst having a vision. The Holy Virgin appears to him accompanied by St Peter and St John the Gospel writer. They promise that the Holy Trinity monastry in Sergei Posad founded by Sergei never will go under. This vision just happed before Sergius died in 1425 AD. Indeed his monastry survived all trials and tribulations, even the terror of Joseph Stalin, and is today the busiest pelgrimage place of Russia. This tryptych must be carved by monks in the H. Trinity monastry in Sergei Posad in one of the endless Russian winters and sold by them to the pilgrims. This tryptych is in an extremely good state of preservation.
