Joe Colombo - Kartell - Chair (2) - Universale mod 4867

Description
Joe Colombo - Kartell - Chair (2) - Universale mod 4867
Italy - 1960-1969 - Plastic

These 2 "Universal" chairs are in good condition and show small signs of wear due to use and age, which do not detract from their beauty and peculiarity, as you can see from the images which are an integral part of the description.

It is the first industrial chair in the world to be injection moulded using a single mould. The cylinder of the leg is cut in half to make it possible to join the chairs together; the slots on the sides solve the problem of stackability as it is possible to insert the back legs of two other chairs. Finally, the central hole provides a comfortable grip for moving the chair, allowing air circulation and water flow in case of outdoor use.

Colombo's design career was tragically interrupted in 1971 by a heart attack that killed him at the age of 41. Nevertheless, he was very productive during his (almost) ten years as a designer. Prominent projects include some of the most iconic designs of the 60s, such as the Universal Stackable Chair (1965-1967) which was made entirely of polypropylene.

These chairs are ideal for high class interiors and exteriors, and will add an extra touch of originality to your home.

They will be carefully packaged and shipped by express courier.
