FETES DES SPORTS - 1900 - CHROMOLITHOGRAPH...
PARIS was asked to host the Olympic Games in 1900!
In 1892 Baron de Coubertin called for the reorganisation of the Olympic Games. Two years later, the "Congress for the restoration of the Olympic Games" was held in the Sorbonnede. It was in Athens that the new Olympiads were successfully held in 1896. The following took place in 1900 in Paris, where women participated for the first time in the events (tennis, golf).
This print with beautiful colours gives an overview of the sports that were invited to participate in 1900: car racing, pole vault, rugby, regatta, running, sailing, cycling, springboard diving, jumping, swimming, horse racing etc. (not all sports were included)
High in the sky we see Montgolfières, Zeppelins and the first planes.
The condition is good with some very small tears in the upper left, see the photos please.
