Description
Sculpture - Wood - Songye - Congo
2nd half 20th century - Fair
I am selling a colonial collection of figurines and masks from Congo. Most of the objects probably date from the period 1940 - 1960.
This large figurine is a protective figurine of the Songye, it is authentic and not a recent copy. It is still in decent condition but there are some damages : the loincloth is torn, a piece of the beard has been broken off, and it had a restoration in the neck.
It remains an imposing, authentic and valuable figurine.
